Hong Kong Hotel Industry Room Occupancy & Availability Information Update

Hotel rooms are available in Hong Kong in all categories all year round but due to seasonal demand, hotel rooms may be tight on certain days. In order to ensure that you will be comfortably and conveniently accommodated during your visit to Hong Kong, we recommend that you make your hotel room bookings in advance through travel agents, hotel web-sites, airlines for airfare and hotel packages, direct bookings with our member hotels, etc. We also recommend that the earlier you make your hotel room bookings, the more choices you will have to make your visit to Hong Kong a more enjoyable one.

To enable residents in China to be advised of hotel availability situation in Hong Kong during Chinese New Year Golden Week Holidays, over the period from 13 to 19 February 2010, the information provided as follows is for general information only.

As of 5 February 2010, hotel rooms are readily available in Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year Golden Week Holidays. We expect hotel room bookings in Hong Kong for the period to continue to increase as we get much closer to the actual dates. Current hotel room bookings are an average of 63% (13 Feb), 72% (14 Feb), 83% (15 Feb), 82% (16 Feb), 80% (17 Feb), 75% (18 Feb) and 63% (19 Feb) for all categories of hotels.

Advance bookings are therefore necessary for this period and the earlier you book, the more choices you will have.

We would like to remind all individual travellers from China to Hong Kong during the period to secure their hotel bookings before they arrive in Hong Kong. While it would still be possible to secure hotel bookings after they arrive in Hong Kong during this period, there will be much fewer choices and availability of rooms will be much more limited.

Room booking service is available at the Centre and we provide room booking assistance to all travellers who are either planning to visit Hong Kong or are already in Hong Kong and have not made their hotel room bookings.
